Weekend relaxin' food ;)

1. The famous Sydney Fish Market

Yes yes ... Yummy Sydney Rock Oysters and Seafood Rice Flat Noodle Soup from the infamous Sydney Fish Market. Got there early to avoid the crowds and it was breakfast on a great sunny Saturday morning.

The Oysters - freshly shucked were fabulous with a tinge of lemon. The Seafood Rice Flat Noodle Soup was done in a perfectly clear soup base (and I mean seriously CLEAR), with generous servings of fresh salmon, calamari rings, and prawns. Put in a small serving of tiny chillis and it was the perfect "perk-me-up" for the morning.

2. Kam Fook Seafood Restaurant - Bondi Junction

Some of the favourites in Kam Fook - the Mango Pancake and Egg (Custard) Tarts.
Nice thin pancake "skin" complements the mango pieces coupled with a tinge of fresh cream, rolled up into roll. The egg tarts had just the right amount of egg/custard combination in the centre and flaky crust to hold it all in, melting in your mouth as you bite into it.

Makan@Alice's

Discovered this Malaysian place at Thornleigh called Makan@Alice's ... They are famous for the Nyoya Kuih & local Malaysian food.

Address: Shop 3, 262 Pennant Hill Road, Thornleigh, 2120, NSW

Below are curry puff, Mee Rebus, Carrot Cake (White radish cake) and ice-kacang. Due to the limitation of food consumption in a day, there are some other authentic food which I can't wait to try - Yeung Tau Fu, Popiah, Asam Laksa, Mee Hun Kuih & many more. The staff are friendly & efficient.

All in all, overall rating is 8/10. More information can be found at http://www.aliceskuih.com.au/

Istana Restaurant

A friend recommended this Malaysian cuisine place at Thornleigh - Istana Restaurant. Quite a distance from home but it was well worth the trip. The "Wat Dan Hor" (Fried Rice Noodle with rich egg sauce) had a good combination of fresh pork, squid, prawns and veggies and to top it all up - a generous serving of yummy egg sauce. The noodle was fried with the right level of "heat" from the wok to give it a slightly burnt flavoured taste, but yet it wasn't too oily to you off.

The Curry Pipis was done just right - not too spicy, with the right amount of flavour from the curry powder and curry leaves. The pipis were huge in size and blended well with the curry sauce.
